Event will take place in Colombia, starting this Wednesday

On November 27th, 28th and 29th, the XVI Congress of the Ibero-American Communication Association (Ibercom) will be held in Bogota, Colombia. The event aims to debate the communication studies. This year's theme reflects on Colombia's current situation and dialogue in times of conflict and post-conflict: Communication, Violence and Transitions.

Feevale Journalism professors, Vanessa Valiati, Saraí Schmidt and Sandra Montardo, from the Advertising course, will represent the Institution at the event. “There will be moments of discussions in various working groups and lectures with renowned researchers in the area”, Vanessa explains, who is also a researcher at the University's Master in Creative Industry. She will present at the event the results found in her research that addresses the affective and relational dynamics in the consumption of audiovisual content on streaming platforms, specifically Netflix. The work is related to the research developed at Feevale, entitled Consumer dynamics and production of creative content on digital platforms.

Each of the event thematic divisions addresses a specific area of communication. Professor Sandra Montardo tells a little about the work she will present at the Congress. “I will participate in the thematic division Communication and Digital Culture with my research project Performance Studies as Software Studies: selfies as mediated performances. The idea of the article is to see how these automated processes that are present in digital platforms such as Instagram, for example, can shape our subjectivity, as well as identity issues, without us often realizing”, she explains.

Journalism professors Vanessa Valiati and Sandra Montardo are coordinators of the Communication, Culture and Digital Consumption research group and will represent not only Feevale, but also this research group and the postgraduate programs included in it, which are: Professional Master in Creative Industry, Postgraduate Program in Cultural Diversity and Social Inclusion and Postgraduate Program in Cultural Expressions and Processes.
