UN leader talks about racial justice and equality at Feevale event

Feevale University held the lecture “Towards transformative change for racial justice and equality”. The speaker was Gaétan Philippe Beaulière, director of the Office at the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Owner of a Master's degree in Political Science and International Humanitarian Law, Beaulière joined the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Racial Anti-Discrimination section after working on direct support programs with the UN Voluntary Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery, and the UN Voluntary Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery and UN for victims of torture. He also worked for the UN Treaty body's coordination unit and held roles in monitoring UN prisons, the Subcommittee for the Prevention of Torture and the Committee Against Torture. Previously, he worked in the field of Communication, including for the UN, in Geneva (Switzerland) and New York (USA). The event was mediated by professor Daniel Sica da Cunha, from Feevale University Law course, and was part of the Institution's Human Rights and Black Consciousness Week 2024 program.
