Professor of the Medicine course Eduardo Barbosa was invited to be a research member of Recardi
Feevale University became part of Red Iberoamericana para la Prevención de las Enfermedades Cardiovasculares y Diabetes (Recardi). The goal is to produce knowledge, from research, that contributes for providing solutions for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, especially diabetes, at the levels of health promotion, prevention, treatment, and recovery.
Eduardo Barbosa, professor at the undergraduate course of Medicine, will be a research member at Recardi. The first Feevale project that will integrate the network's actions will be a clinical study, already in the process of approval by the University's Research Ethics Committee, within the scope of the social project Times – Transform, Innovate, Move, and Educate for Health. From the research, scheduled to begin in the first half of 2024, the use of strength exercise to control blood pressure will be evaluated. Times grantees will volunteer for the study.
“It is important for health institutions in the Americas to work together, because this action creates a large database of protocols that can be used by all members of the network”, explains Barbosa. According to the professor, Feevale is the only institution in Rio Grande do Sul to be part of Recardi (in Brazil, only two others participate in the network), which expresses the qualification of the teaching staff and the projects and research developed at the University.
